Mebeverine is a musculotropic antispasmodic drug, indicated for what is called "spastic functional disturbances of the colon":

-Irritable bowel syndrome in its primary form
-Irritable bowel syndrome associated with organic -lesions of the gastrointestinal tract such as; diverticulosis and diverticulitis, regional enteritis, disease of the gall bladder and gall ducts, gastric and duodenal ulcers, dysentery, and aspecific or specific inflammation of the digestive tract.

DOSING SCHEDULE:

Tablets: mebeverine hydrochloride 135mg Pack size: 100 tabs Dose - Adult and child over 10 years: 1 tablet 3 times daily preferably 20 minutes before meals

Liquid: 50mg (as embonate)/5ml Pack size: 300ml Dose - Adult and child over 10 years: 15ml 3 times daily preferably 20 minutes before meals.

As far as side effects go, research I've gathered states the following:

"In clinical studies, the following side effects have been reported: indigestion/heartburn, dizziness, insomnia, anorexia, headache and general malaise."
