a yellowish, round (cylindrical) pill with rounded (convex) top and bottom...waxy coated with white interor, but interior has texture consistency similar to a hard gummy-bear candy. Chewing it is difficult, as tough dried-jelly-like interior is very cohesive and sticky...it tends to work its way into tooth's biting surface irregularities, and is compacted into spaces between teeth, where it can take 30 or more minutes to disolve. Taste is just like oxycodone but more subtle than Oxycontin. Not scored, smaller than a raisin, one side says OP and other side says 40. Is this the new tamper proof oxycontin?? ## That's exactly right, this is the new Oxycontin OP 40mg. Unlike the regular Oxycontin, if you try to crush or chew this one, it doesn't make a difference, it is specially...

I been on all types of opiates and in some cases really high doses. now I'm back down to a reasonable dose of pain meds long acting oxy an 15mg 4aday Roxy ir for breakthrough. I'm supposed to have it in my system around the clock so the oxy 12hr med is not working at all it seems to me. I'm not a junkie so I have not ever been on the Actiq any mcg fentanyl lollipops an I see ppl saying how 1pop can last them on an off for a day but I'd like to switch the 2 20mg oxycontin for an equal amount of the say 400mcg lollipops an the 4oxycodone 15mg that do help my pain an get me through my day. I've been on opiates since age 24 and I'm now 38. I never abuse it but I know when it starts to get time for a dose. My stomach starts to kill me along with back pain hand arm leg...

I am currently taking oxycontin 40 mg and I going from a private insurance plan to a Humana PPO Medicare advantage plan and they don't cover it. Some of the other option they recommend from humana was Methadone, Hydromorphone, Codeine Sulfate, Fentanyal Patch, Morphine, and oxycodone IR. I know Oxycodone is the same active ingredient oxycontin but I also take Oxycodone 15mg for breakthrough pain. It helps somewhat but it does help enough. My good day after taking the medicine and having my spinal cord stimulation implant device on is a 5 but an avg. day is 7.5. To give you a idea what a five to me is I broke both of my arms with one bone poking through was a 5.5 and that is a good day for me. My doctor is very hard to get him to increase my dose. So maybe one of these other medicati...

I am getting this other generic oxycodone 10 mg, smaller pill and no line , it doesn't seem to work as well, anyone experience or no why and if my state isn't using PMP - can I pay cash and get my refill early - I am going out of town, I will soon have a new insurance and dr. no contracts or anything to break. Thanks. ## Hi Irbo, Because each pill is manufactured by a different company, not only is there going to be a slight variation of inactive ingredients (binders/fillers), but also if the medication is in generic form, it is permitted by the FDA to contain as much as 20% more or less of the actual active ingredient as well. This could mean that a 10mg oxycodone tablet may actually have 8mgs in it. For some people these subtle differences are the equivalent of taking somethin...

my dr prescibed oxymorphone er 60 mg. and oxymorphone ir 5 mg. I was able to purchase the ir tablets in generic (but they cost about 50.00 more than the oxycodone ir 20 mg. that I was taking before he switched my meds) I was not able to get the oxymorphone er 60 mg. in generic form. Are these manufactured in the U.S (2014)? The brand name was Opana, which ended up costing me around 450.00 for 60 pills. This is OUTRAGEOUS!! I am a woman, of only 58 yrs.old. I'm on disibility from back injuries from about 20-25 yrs. ago and I also have C.O.P.D. Because of this I'm on a very low income, but not quite low enough to get "The Extra Help" that is avaiable to people who didn't work very much. Because of that they"re disibility pymts. are a bit smaller than mine, therefor...

I have been taking oxycontin, now since they changed the the formula i am up to 120x2 a day with a breakthough. It stinks i still have pain with the op kind. I tried 100mg patchs of fentanal. Could never keep them on.Now i hear of a fentanal pill newly approved.I think this would be a lot better for me. Ant thoughts on this dillema I have??? ## Have you tried the Fentenal lollypops? (suckers?) ## The new tablets are sold under the trade name Fentora and they are available in several dosages, up to 800mcgs. The lollipop formulation that Kat mentioned is called Actiq. Have you consulted your doctor, yet? This is really the strongest narcotic available and you may have better luck with a different formulation. ## having trouble keeping fentynol patch on ## Fentora is an IR version of fenta...

When I just posted the ms contin is 100 mgs. a day 2 15mg. ir which the ir I can't even tell the difference ## We have many complaints on here about them not working as well and causing odd side effects. If it were me, I'd print some of the pages and take them in to show my doctor that I am not the only one with a problem with them. Here are the links to just some of the discussions on our site about it: As to the problems you have had with the new formulation, I strongly suggest you report it to the FDA and Purdue at the following numbers: Purdue Pharma number for drug safety/medication issues: 888.726.7535 FDA MedWatch number: 800-332-1088 The strongest medication for pain that is currently available by prescription is Fentanyl, it is actually over 80 time stronger than Morp...

I have just been prescribed Oxycontin along with Morphine sulfate immediate release (80 mg of oxy, 1 tab 2x a day, 30 mg of morphine ir) for severe nerve damage to my left leg. I have started to become nauseated, is this due to the combo of both? I take them at separate times a day as prescribed. I have been on msir for 1 1/2 years, but a weaker dose. ## It is actually more than likely due to the higher dose of the Morphine. Unfortunately, while also working so well on the pain receptors of the brain, morphine also acts on the receptors that trigger nausea and vomiting. I went through the same thing myself when I switched from Oxycontin to MS Contin. It will take a few weeks, but it will eventually wear off. However, you can expect to experience this anytime you alter your dosage again....

Does anyone know when Sandoz or apotex will be realising generic oxycontin in Australia? Any feedback would be much appreciated ## Checkout chemist warehouse web inventory they have sandoz, it's says oxycodone not oxycontin tho... Are they the ssme? Same strengths tho. Anyone know? ## Sandoz has released a generic version of oxycontin in Australia and is now on pharmacy shelves check with your pharmacy as to what its called however if you have a script for oxycontin as with all drugs you should automatically be asked if you would prefer the generic version ## Oxycodone is an IR form where as oxycontin is a modafield or controlled realease form of oxycodone so obviously they are going to be different strengths. A 20mg oxycontin tablet is designed to release its active ingredient oxyc...

My best friend, who introduced me to her surgeon that performed my 360 fusion, was recently forced to return to PM due to pain from numerous back problems including but not limited to Bone spurs, bulging discs, curvature of the spine and more..., Her PM clinic is about an hour away from mine. Anyhow, he had her on Oxycodone 15 MG IR 4 times a day and he recently added Oxycontin 30mg ER twice a day due to her not having much relief from just the 15 mg pills. It made all the difference in her level of pain and I had my friend back :) When she went to fill at the pharmacy (CVS) she has always used due to them being next door to the clinic, she was told she would have to go to a pharmacy in her county (next exit down) as could no longer fill for her out of county (we are in TN and first we ...

oxcodone IR 30mg to replace oxycontin CR 40mg no insurance on oxycontin ## Hello, Freefall! How are you? Your doctor should be able to prescribe the regular release Oxycodone for you, in lieu of the Oxycontin. However, you should be aware that there is no immediate release in these higher dosages, it is only available as a capsule in 5mgs. The FDA lists this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Have you discussed the issue with your doctor? If the 40mg twice a day has been controlling your pain, they'll likely want to try to keep you as close to that dosage as possibly. ## The new oxycontin may not work for you, but I have been put on xtampz...

Just switched over from oxy 30mg instant release 6x daily to oxycontin 60mg with 2 30mg IR for breakthrough. Been on this for a long time. I find that I'm very disappointed with the oxycontin 60 it seems to only last 5 hours at the most and I have many breakthrough pains during that period of time. I've heard of oxymorphone ER and want to know if this would be better for me due to opioid tolerance. If anybody can give me opinions on this please do. Thanks. ## First off, the 30mg that you're taking cannot be instant release tablets, the instant release is only available in a 5mg capsule. If you're taking 30mg tablets, then they have to be the regular release formulation, which is a generic for Roxicodone. Learn more Roxicodone details here. And the Oxycontin just doesn...

Can someone tell me if Someone takes 2-30 mg Oxycodone IR and 60mg Oxycontin ER are they same and dispensed the same into your body if you would cut the ER in half? My friend takes both and she is on mail order. They have made a mix up in her pills so now she will run out of the 30 mg tablets her doctor is 2 hours away and she has to have a driver take her there and that would be me and I am sorry I really do not have the time this week to do it. So I was wondering if she is used to these amounts and trust me she has been in chronic pain her entire life since a child what would be the difference. I read everyone saying if you cut the oxycontin in half it releases immediately. That is the same thing the 30 mg oxycodone do, right? ## Hello, Diana! How are you? No, they are not the same. T...

I am currently on 4 30mg oxycodone ir a day and 2 2mg dillaudid a day. I've had 2 major surgeries and I'm I'm only 24 and day in day out in extreme constant pain. My question is would switching to OxyContin the new formula be as effective? Does it have the same euphoria or is it less effective than what I'm on? If anybody can help me out with that I would appreciate it. ## One thing I can say right off the bat is that Oxycontin is an extended release formula of Oxycodone. Some people say that it's not quite as potent as its immediate-release counterpart, but offers much longer relief in return. I do think though, that you'd have be your own best judge when it comes to that, since everyone is different. The thread linked below seems to have good information compar...

I have oxycodone and OxyContin a few different strengths. Oxycodone HCL IR 15MG TAB, Oxycodone 10MG immediate rel tabs, OxyContin 30MG controlled release tabs, OxyContin 40MG tablet, Oxycodone HCL 20mg IR Tablets. They are name brand not generic. My father passed away from cancer last month. What's the best thing to do with the remaining pills? Pharmacy won't allow a return for a refund. ## Hello, Kyle! How are you? I am very sorry about your loss. While they won't allow a return for a refund, they can safely dispose of them for you, if you take them in and ask them to do so. Alternatively, the FDA says the proper way to dispose of them would be to add them into some undesirable substance, such as damn used coffee grounds, or dirty cat litter, place the mess into a sealed co...

Hi, Last year May my wife had kidney problems which caused her severe pain, she was prescribed oxynorm 10 mg to be taken through the day and ended up on 60mg slow release to be taken morning and night as well as amatryptoline at night. She eventually had her operation end of September, as she got better the doctor she was seeing slowly weened her off the slow release whihc she no longer takes, she is now only on the 10mg oxynorm and amatryptoline. We went to the Doctor last week as she has been vomiting 2 or 3 times a day for a few months now and has little or no apetite, her period is also very irregular and she didnt' have one for about 10 months, this was put down to the medication, we were told to wait till we see the surgeon that week as the doctor felt it may be related to the...

Have been taking OxyContin 5mg every 12 hours for about a year. How difficult to come off this drug? Am very tired and the dosage is not enough now. Don't want to take them any more. ## I think you'll be fine. If you are truly on only 10 mg a day, total, that is a crazy low dosage, and of course that wouldn't do anything for you really. Oxycodone is the drug in OxyContin, same as Percocet or Oxycodone IR except OxyContin is made to be time release. Most people with chronic pain are started out on 10 mg 3 times a day, which is a total of 30 mg per day. Even on 30 mg. I think withdrawal would be minimal. I goofed up on my meds once and had to go with almost nothing for a week and never have had any withdrawal. I would say at worst you may feel like you have a touch of the flu f...

seem to be getting confused between the differences as I did think both were opiates ## Hello, Todd! How are you? I'm sorry about your confusion and I'm happy to help clear it up for you. Oxycontin contains the opiate Oxycodone in a time released formulation. However, Percocet contains Oxycodone coupled with Acetaminophen. Oxycodone is also available as a regular release formulation and an instant release, called Roxicodone and Oxy IR, respectively. The FDA lists this as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
