Back is out again. One shot of cortisone will get me back to normal within 30-45 minutes. No one will help me. Is there any Doctor in PA that will administer one shot of cortisone? Lehigh Valley area. ## There is no proof that cortisone, triamcinolone, dexamethasone, or any steroid is a benefit when injected into spine. That is why FDA has black box warnings on the drug use in this way. The manufacturers do not recommend using it via epidural route. You should Google the Safe Use Initiative Program by FDA and it’s work on Epidural steroid drugs. Hi, I have had chronic back pain for years and have seen various doctors for the problem. Most have prescribed either tramadol or hydrocodone along with muscles relaxers sometimes. I've also tried a round of steroids (prednisone) as well as non pharmaceutical options like physical therapy, stretching and light exercise when I can tolerate it in an effort to strengthen my core. Most of these treatments have helped to some degree but the pain inevitably returns (and really many of the medications have only slightly dulled the pain but I still have had difficulty getting through the day even when taking them. i was diagnosed by my doctor as having "very VERY bad bronchitis." i was prescribed the 6 day 4mg/pill methylprednisolone tablet pack. i have been taking them as she instructed, as well as using an inhaler with albuterol. i have one day left of the methylprednisolone (one pill) that i will be taking tomorrow morning. I get and allergy for something I eat. Not sure what and I have a sore right foot heel every morning I get out of bed. After I have walked a bit it goes away. I also get it when I get up after I have sat down for while My.Doc has prescribed 1 every morning. I have now picked up so much weight around my belly which I can not get rid of. Is methocarbamol (robaxin) a steroid or anti-depressant? I started using it two months ago in Apr 2013 and I am experiencing severe mood swings. The two things that cause me mood swings is IM, IV, or oral steroids or any type of anti-depressant. I'm becoming reclusive, angry and noncommunicative. This happens every time I'm exposed to either drug category. I know depressants can also cause these side effects, but I've had lots of those without side effects whereas I've never taken one of the aforementioned without them. I am at the mercy of the medical and insurance systems for any quality of life possible for me after a failed back surgery led to an unstable spine and 57 degree curve scoliosis. Here is the deal. I have a herniated disc and degenerative disc disease. I have had physical therapy, chiropractor and epidural steroid injections. I am a Kaiser patient. I am taking Morphine ER 15 mg 4 times a day with percocet 5 mg 3 times a day for breakthrough. How long can one expect relief to last, and how often can inj's. be given? What should I request from my doctor for severe lower back pain and numbness to my right leg and burning hip? ## Hello, John! How are you? There's really no way to say how long you can expect relief, because it can vary from person to person. They are usually given every 3 to 4 months. As to what you can request for pain, it would actually be best not to require a specific medication. Most doctors will view that as being drug seeking behavior. The best approach would be to inform them of your continuing pain and let them suggest a solution. Does anyone else have any ideas or advice to offer?

My sister was taking Nucynta and Prednisone for her Rheumatoid Arthritis and it weakened her immune system. She had only been taking these 2 medications about a year. One day she got strep and it killed her. Within a couple of days of feeling sick, she was rushed the ER and passed away. She died of septic shock. I blame the drugs. ## Hello, Diana! I have been diagnosed as suffering from bi-polar depression. Everyday, all day the muscles in shoulders are so tight that I have continuous tension headaches that run up the back of my neck and behind my hears. I have tried deep tissue massages (last 2-3 days), ice/hot packs/pulse stimulators (don't work), acupuncture (4-6 hours), oral steroids (don't work cause weight gain), steroids shots in neck (4-7 days).
