How Long After You Stop Suboxone Do You Have Withdrawal Symptoms? (Page 56) (Top voted first)

Updated

My 63y/o mother survived chemo and radiation for throat cancer but was unable to stop the morphine 15mg twice a day without horrible withdrawal symptoms. Her MD put her on Suboxone 8mg/2mg once a day in June. She even took half the strip on most days and the doctor was very pleased and anticipated that she would be able to stop altogether in November. She unfortunately had a stroke 14 days ago and has been in the hospital. The first 7 days she was confused from the stroke but now she is weak and forgetful but is no longer disoriented. She told me tonight that she thought she needed her Suboxone. She said she thought she was going thru withdrawal. I was floored. She is not having any outward signs of withdrawal: no back/stomach pain, no nausea/vomiting, no sweating or tremors. Isn't 14 days long enough for the Suboxone to be completely out of your system and for withdrawal symptoms to have come and gone??? Any answers will be greatly appreciated.

Today is 9 day I have been off Suboxone and still feel terrible. I am experiencing bad anxiety, being cold all the time, can't sleep much, and restless leg. I am also really weak, exhausted, and have had increase depression. This drug is terrible to withdrawal from. I quit cold turkey from 8 mg. I just hope I feel normal again soon.

Dont post a bulls*** comment like that claiming to know the truth about suboxone then tell him/her that f***ing methadone is the solution when the methadone w/d's are 10x worse...

I am so glad to hear you are feeling so great!! I sometimes look at people while I'm out and think will I ever be happy like that without some pill to help induce that happiness...I know I will it will just take time. I keep telling myself it is but a short season compared to my whole life time. It is day 8 and still no RLS. Do you think it possible I may not get that? Also at what day in ur app union do you think things will slowly start to turn for the better? THANK YOU AGAIN AZURE..

3 to 4gs a day that must have been 99% mannitol 1% H. I been iv. user 30+ years impossible for anyone to tolerate that amount of H if it was even 60% pure street average in scotland around 30-40%

I've been a user of pain pills for 5yrs and got on suboxone and was taking 24mg a day for another 5 yrs and its really hard to make this transition but I went cold turkey about a week ago and I felt the WD effects in about five days and I was wondering if anyone thinks it would be better to just start taking pain pills again for a month or so and then just try to WD off of them instead bc from what I've read from everyone it would be easier to WD from pain meds than suboxone but any advice would be much appreciated.

I have a quick question. I have never had an addiction or abuse problem of any type. For the past 6-8 months I have been taking about 1mg of sub a day, some days less.

If I were to just quit, should I expect to have any withdrawal? If yes, I cannot imagine it should be too harsh, correct??

Thanks

So it has been 5 days without sub. Was taking as I mentioned 1mg or less a day for last 6-8 months.

Is it pretty safe to say that I am not going to experience wd?

Better late than never. As you posted this alon time ago but I agree with you, God has nothing to do with it! Your faith? Yes maybe true it takes faith however, if praying to God was enough no body would be suffering. That's like when two houses get hit by a tornado right next store to one another, one family losses everything and one survives and then says " God saved them" we prayed! fact maybe the two family's prayed together when they saw it comming, so then God only saved the family that was, what? Praying louder? Pretty arrogant and ignorant if you ask me. Not saying don't have faith, we can have faith hope for the best prepare for the worst, absolutely ok to seek for spiritual enlightening, but you cannot put it all on " God" without then including the tragitys and suffering as well.

Hi Tammy, if you're already 11 days into detox it should start to ease up any day now. When I quit subs I had RLS and insomnia as well and that lasted for about 2 weeks. After that it lessened and I was able to sleep a little better but I still had bouts of insomnia (not as bad) that lasted almost a month. One thing that really helps is gabapentin (neurontin). It's a non narcotic nerve pain medication that they prescribe for arthritis. Most Drs will not have a problem prescribing it because its not controlled and doesn't really have any recreational value, but it does help with the RLS and insomnia. It also helps with the achy joints and overall defeated feeling of detoxing. I've also heard that clonodine works for all of these symptoms as well but I've never tried it. Other than RLS and insomnia, how are you holding up?

I totally agree, that was well put. I just want to add the fact that if u want to REALLY succeed u will build your relationship with JEHOVAH and know that everything will be fine and that pain will be no more and that life u dream about will finally be reality. If u have the chance to get clean (we all know not everyone has that chance) make the best of it. U have nothing to loose because u already know what it's like to be sick and tired of being sick so it's all a matter of when u really get sick and tired of being sick. I can guarantee u nothing other than PEACE AND HAPPINESS.

It's been hard trying to get off and yes the doctors (mostly) have very little understanding and are in it because it's a cash cow. Why most sub docs won't even accept insurance. But it definitely saved my life. I would have died, been murdered, or gone to jail if I hadn't stopped. I tried to ween myself off opiates several times. For me it was impossible. The wd's were acute and the symptoms were worse than flu like. I'm still tapering but I didn't lose my job, my life or my family while on subs. I'm almost one year off opiates. I'm down to 1mg of sub and I noticed cravings coming back. Now my question is: how do I live in this world sober? I have hobbies and I try to stay constantly busy but it's winter and when things slow down my mind always slides into that same space. Good luck everyone.

I am off it for 34 years, let me ask you how are your teeth? Just because there are no clinical studies doesn't mean that it doesn't deplete your system from calcium.

Just saying, why the achiness and inability to walk and I was young? Is that your muscles that lasted over a year.

Well said!!!
Very realistic & accurate info & totally agree-- anytime you can get away with taking half a pill either at bedtime or anytime you can scamp which I know it's virtually impossible but emergencies do happen and when they do pharmacies hospitals doctors etc. it's not their emergency it's yours !!!!
And, yes, be veeeerrrrryyy clear how ur dr tests! Good luck & great advice keikee!
Trolling, judgmental or advice that seems to be read from patient packaging don't do this only do that is not what people turn to this board for in regard to the device so yours is very much appreciated by everyone I'm sure !
