I have been on Eliquis for 4 months now for afib. Have only had one episode of Afib. have a cardiologist that doesn't listen. He's just a drug pusher and wants to do ablations. So I don't bother with him. He just turned me back over to my nurse practitioner anyway. I am wasting away on this eliquis 2.5 mg twice a day. Can't gain weight. Most people gain. Not me. Suffering all over body pain. Memory problems. Nausea. Hair falling out. Weak. No motivation. Think it's messing with my blood pressure. Sometimes sweating and fever. I looked up side effect. Drs won't even listen about side effects. Just want to push more pills. I don't sleep well. Hardly slept last night. This stuff can also affect the liver since most of it goes through the liver. I am a soon to be 71 year-old female with paroxysmal A-Fib--started 5 years ago. I take Eliquis 5 mg/twice daily. I generally am not in A-Fib, but for some dental and surgeries have needed to discontinue Eliquis 2 to 3 days prior. I have researched everywhere and spoke to my cardiologist and PCP as well asking about withdrawal symptoms. As even missing one dose, I get flushed, shaky, and increased heart rate until I go back on the drug. Even asked pharmacist but they look at all the info on the warnings label. I have been on Eliquis for 3 years, after having a blood clot from back surgery. Also have Afib. I have pain all over...back pain, fibro, nerve pain. Terribly sore all time. Seems like it all became worse after I started taking Eliquis. Sometimes urine smells like motor oil. Don’t know if it’s Eliquis but I suspect it is. I have recently felt like I have some kind of arthritis. Just debilitating pain all the time. Wish I knew if it was caused by Eliquis! ## I was misdiagnosed with a blood clot in my calf. History of valvular incompetence and superficial thrombophlebitis of Greater Saphenous Vein (GSV) in the left leg. After being on Eliquis (5mg x2 per day) for a little over 2 1/2 months due to GSV clot propagating into femoral vein (although not that impressive), I developed a case of what appears to be superficial thrombophlebitis in the medial calf of the opposite (right) leg. This seems somewhat odd as if the Eliquis is not working. Will be making an appointment with my vascular doc next week (even though not scheduled to have follow-up ultrasound for initial DVT until 10 more days). I'm a healthy 74 year old male who works out with weights heavily in April developed an asymptomatic tachycardia with a classical a fib beat took eliquis for 4_weeks no problems then cardioversion immediately back to normal sinus rhythm and 4_weeks more on eliquis with very slight hemorroidal bleeding minimal. Was the put back on baby aspirin back on schedule and ad of 8 /21_feel great Stephen ## I am so very glad that it worked so well for you, that's awesome! I have been on Eliquis 2xs a dsy since March for a blood clot in my left calf (not deep) & small ones in my left lung. I have been having severe itching every time I eat anything. The itch is in dif places all the time. It is waring on my nerves. I also use Symbicort steroid inhaler for asthma/allergies which I find makes my skin thin so when I scratch, I bleed a little so I have tiny scabs all over me. If I itch on my buns, my skivvies will be covered w blood spots. This is NUTS. I want off of this stuff! I’ve research Natto & other GOD given natural thgs to take & hope to do that. Hello - my dad was treated for prostate cancer 5 years ago via radiation and is in remission. He also is dealing with atrial fibrillation and is taking eliquis to counteract this. However, he recently has been bleeding quite a lot / passing blood in his urine / passing bloodclots and just had to have a transfusion to fight against the blood loss. The doctors are trying to find a remedy to stop this bleeding (they have said that around 5 years post prostate radiation treatment blood in your urine and clots can occur). The main issue is that my dad does not want to stop his eliquis in fear of a stroke and obviously wants to cease the non stop bleeding he is passing through his urine. Is it safe to take a Vitamin B Complex for my osteoarthritis while I'm taking 5mg of Eliquis twice a day. Also, regarding a multi-vitamin, what should I look for in terms of which vitamins, dosages and combinations that would be safe with the Eliquis I'm taking. ## Some vitamins can cause too much blood thinning, when taken with a medication like Eliquis, so it would be best to double check with your doctor, before taking them, just to be safe. There are also some vitamins that may reduce the effectiveness of the medication, such as vitamin K. Hi, my name is Laura and I just started taking eliquis about 2 1/2 months ago and I have gained 21 pounds which is highly unusual for me. Usually my weight remains steady. I have also been incredibly tired all day long which makes work next to impossible. As well as not having any energy to spend with my children. I am only 30, and was put on eliquis due to having a second pe and cumaden not being an efficient way to control my blood. Is it possible the eliquis is causing these problems? Hi, I just started taking Eliquis a few days ago for a DVT and I am wondering can you lose weight while using this medication? I've read that people have gained weight but what about losing weight? ## Yes, it is possible and has been reported as happening to some people that take it, but it is a very rare occurrence. I have had severe itching of scalp for the past year. Dermatologist said 'sebhoragic dermatitis' but the remedies did no good. I have bumps on the scalp. I don't know if it is malfunction of kidneys, liver, or just meds. I take Eliquis, Diltiazem and Ambien. My scalp is sore from scratching but I don't know what else to do. ## If I had to hazard a guess, it would be that it's the Eliquis, since it has been known to cause skin rash, and itching as side effects, along with nausea, headache, and increased risk of bleeding. You aren't the first one to report such issues from taking this medication, there have been quite a few other people, as well. Many have had to switch off of it and try something else. About a month after taking Eliquis I started with being tired nearly all day. Just wanted to sit and close my eyes. I find myself leaning against walls, rubbing my face to remain alert and yawning a lot. I am also on a beta blocker but have reduced it with seemingly no improvement. MD isn't worried but it really is affecting my quality of life. MD ran a bunch of blood checks and all were normal. Right now not getting a lot of support from my doctors on this. ## Hello, Mark! Folks who have problems are quick to get on a site like this one. I would like to hear from some folks who have not had any problems and are satisfied with the medicine. Anyone have Spinal Stenosis and taking this anticoagulant? I have been on it for 4 years now and have never felt right now the symptoms of the stenosis are much worse. Burning sensations in Good of fingers. Feet burning. Back of neck feels like boiling water has been poured down it. Sleep is very disturbed. Passing loads of urine. I have been on Eliquis for 4 months. I have had several blood tests and have not bled afterwards and I had no bruising at all. I have always bruised after blood tests. I am very concerned. Elequis problems I forgot to mention. I now have Periphial neuropathy, stiff joints in the morning, tremendous depression that destroys my well being and can't sleep very well. My muscle tone is gone and my legs barely hold me up. My arms are too week to support me also. I feel like the life is being sucked out of me.
