8 weeks ago my mom was given 10mg citalopram for anxiety. she did not feel any side effect in the first week but afterwards starting having insomnia, upset stomach, tremor, agitation, etc. The psychiatrist increased teh dose to 20 mg daily but this did not solve anything. Today, in the 8th week she could not sleep at all in the night (she felt fresh when going sleeping even she was working the whole day) and in the morning she is feeling needles in the whole body, she is shaking + many other bad feelings. Can be that the dose is too high for her age (74 years old)?. I am afraid not to be the symptoms of a high level of serotonin. ## Those can all be side effects of Celexa. Insomnia is a classic side effect, though some people get sleepy from SSRI's. Seems to depend on the person. Th...

I was on 40mg of Citalopram and slowly over a few months I cut down to 10mg. On Christmas eve I cut it out totally, the main effect of this was sleeping terribly which I know is normal and why I waited until I had time off work. Now I'm back at work I feel very anxious and had diarreah yesterday quite a bit in work. Now I'm worries my ibs-D is making a comeback, or is it just settling back to work anxiety. Not sure if taking propranolol as and when would help with this. Does anyone have any advice? Need to wait around 4 weeks for an appt at my docs surgery so thought be worth trying forums 1st.

I just want to know what this drug is for and side effects ## My doctor is changing me from Paxil to this drug, because of the interaction it has with the Tomoxifen I am taking. Will this have the same adverse action? ## Citalopram is an antidepressant, commonly sold under the brand name Celexa. It is in the same drug class as Paxil, both are Selective Seratonin Reuptake Inhibitors, however, I see nothing listed warning about using them with Tamoxifen. I suggest you double check this information with your pharmacist, they will have more details on such possible interactions. Some of the most common side effects for Citalopram may include: nausea, drowsiness, headache and dry mouth. Hello, I am taking citalopram for morning adrenaline/anxiety issues i have had for the past few months. Had many tests done to rule out health issue and all were negative ( chest xrays, ekg, blood, urine, cat scan of head, numerous thyroid test etc). Doc thought it may be my hormones. Only really happens in the am but I feel like I cant calm down and get hot rushes and brain on overdrive. Anyway I tried not using anything but gave in and started Citlopram. Doc gave me 2 mg and said start with hald 10mg but I was extra cautious and started with 5mg. Well I have been on 5mg for almost 2 weeks and only had some slight problems like nausea and feeling very tired. Other than that I feel much improved already. I also woke up most mornings gagging, sometimes to the point of vomiting and had no...

I'm trying to identify an oval pink pill with a slit down the middle. It has a capital A on one side and 90 on the other side. ## Is it possible that the imprint you are looking at is actually A 06? I got a temporary citalopram script from CVS and the pills were white. Then I received another script from express scripts & the pills are pink. Why the difference? ## What are the markings on them? Can you please post back and clarify? Thank you! The color is actually irrelevant and is entirely up to the manufacturer's whit and whim. Since this is a generic medication, it is manufactured by several different companies, so the color, shape, size and markings may vary. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and weight changes.

I have been taking this drug for 7 years or around that. I love it. I was a mess, It has helped me contol my anixaty I started out at 20 mg and now at 40 mg. Because it has made me feel so much better I will not go off of them. I have a very depressive life of ups and downs PTSD. a car accident with head injury and everthing in between. My boyfriend has been taking Citalopram HND 40 mg for about 2 years and the doctor refilled it for 20 mg. No discussion on the change amount was made. Plus the pills look completely different. ## Did he ask his doctor about the change? It might have been a mistake. The FDA warns that this medication may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and mood changes. Sometimes, such issues are just due to an honest mistake, because doctors tend to be so very busy.

Hi, I have been on 20mg of Citalopram (Celexa) for a year and starting to come off them. I was taking 2 x 10 mg tablets a day. So I started by alternating 2x10mg one day followed by 1x10mg the next day and alternating for a few weeks. Well that was the plan, but I felt no side effects after 3 days so figured I could go down to 10mg a day. I was on 10mg a day for about 3 days and had no withdrawal symptoms, so again figured I had this tapering stuff sorted and then decided to go to 10mg every other day. Then it hit me, I felt like I had the flu... which is my main question, people talk about side effect symptoms like brain zaps and nausea, I havent had any of those. But I feel achy and lethargic and cannot sleep. But also have a really bad cough. I have never seen anyone mention a cough ...

There is no expiry date on the prescription bottle. How long is the shelf life for this medication? ## Hello, Aline! How are you? I had been taking Citalopram 20mg for 8 months. I began taking it for anxiety, agitation, hormone type issues. Although it absolutely helped all of the symptoms that I complained of, the drowsiness side effect is too much. I feel like I am completely worn out all the time. I don't have the energy to exercise, therefore I have gained 10 pounds. My doc has switched me to Lexapro 10mg and I have been taking it for a week now. I already have far more energy than I had on Citalopram. Just hope it is as effective for my original symptoms. ## Are you still doing well on the Lexapro? Learn more Lexapro details here. Is citalopram (208 1g) a benzodiazepine and does it work the same as lorazepam? Can you take citalopram for depression? ## No and no!
